Tim Steininger was sworn in as a Fairborn City Councilman on December 5, 2011. He grew up in the Chicago suburbs and has lived in Bismarck, North Dakota; Gladstone, Michigan; and Hillsboro, Ohio before settling in Fairborn in July 1986.
Early in 1975, Tim graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Human Sciences (Special Education) from Governor's State University in Park Forest South, Illinois. He earned a Masters of Arts in Human Development (Instructional Design) from the same university in late 1975. He furthered his education earning an Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI in 1981.
Tim has been active in the Fairborn community starting out as an officer in the Fairborn High School Marching Band Parent Group spending many sleepless nights chaperoning students on overnight trips and riding school buses to far away competitions. He closed out his tenure as the President. He has been engaged in several millage efforts for the schools and the Fairborn Police Department. He joined the Fairborn Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and became its President before becoming a member of the Fairborn Planning Board. He served two consecutive terms ending his second term as the Chairman. He returned back to the Fairborn Planning Board and was in his second term when elected to City Council. In addition to supporting city activities, Tim is a long-time supporter and member of the Fairborn YMCA Board.
Tim's career began teaching handicapped students in Harvey, IL. After three years, he became a Special Education Consultant at the North Dakota Department of Education. He migrated to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 1977. Life took him to Hillsboro, OH, in 1981 to be a regional teacher consultant.
After spending three years working for Battelle Memorial Institute, he joined Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in 1990 working as a trainer on a large U.S. Air Force contract as well as supporting Corporate IT. Currently, he is the Americas Change Manager for commercial accounts. He works remotely supporting several large corporate IT departments.
Tim is married to Vicki, his best friend since 1973. He has two daughters, Robin McCarty and Megan Steininger, both graduates of Fairborn High School.
