Youth Programs

Fairborn Parks & Recreation programs are a great way for Fairborn’s Kids, Youth, and Teens to be active and social in our community.

 

FREE Play

MVRAC “Let’s Play!” Scavenger Hunt
Who: All ages- FREE
When: The hunt begins May 24th!
National Scavenger Hunt day is Monday, May 24. The Miami Valley Recreation Activities Council is kicking it off with “Let's Play!” scavenger hunt! Eight area agencies are hiding clues in their communities/agencies and it’s up to you to find them! For all those finding all eight clues and completing the challenge, you will be entered into a drawing for First: $250, Second: $100, and Third: $50. Check out our social media details to find out how to get the app and log in to find all the ways we can play in the Miami Valley!

Preschool PLAY: Play Catch
Monday, June 21st 10-11am
Osborn Park
This week is National Playing Catch week. Join others for games that practice skills like catching, kicking, and balance that improve hand/eye coordination. Get fit, have fun, and be social with games like tag, parachute, and relays.

Preschool PLAY: Lolli-Pop around the Park
Monday, July 19th 10-11am
Community Park/Bottom of park
Community Park will be transformed into a Lollipop scavenger hunt! Let’s take a walk to search for the peeking, popping lollipops. At the end of our walk, hunt real lollipops in our candy land-themed field.

Preschool PLAY: Big Wheel Obstacle Course
Monday, August 23rd 3-4pm
Fairfield Park
Bring your big wheel or other bike and ride like the wind through the Big Wheel obstacle course!

YOUTH (AGES 6-13)

Outdoor Explorer: Bee the Explorer
June 1-30- FREE
June is Pollinator Month and it’s a great time to BEE-come an insect explorer! Pick up an Outdoor Explorer Kit at the Fairborn Library during the month of June, take it to a local park (or even your backyard!), and start examining the amazing world of bees! Registration is required. Pick up the book and kit at the library.

Outdoor Explorer: Hawk’s Woodland Walk
July 1-31- FREE
Hawk’s Woodland Walk is a story trail that loops through Valle View Reserve, and July is a great time to get to know some of the wild creatures that live there. Pick up an Outdoor Explorer Kit at the Fairborn Library, take it to Valle View Reserve, and start looking and listening! Back to School Bash
Tuesday, August 10th 1-3pm

$3/resident; $5/non-resident
It’s almost time to go back-to-school. Let’s have fun before summer is over. Field day games, obstacle course, water play, and more! Plus receive some back-to-school supplies and accessories.

TEENS (AGES 13-18)

Gardening Club
Tuesdays starting June 1-September 21 4-5pm
Fairborn Community Garden
$1- residents only
Learn how to garden and take home what you harvest! Each week we will meet at the Fairborn Community Garden to learn, discover, and grow. This is an educational garden designed for teens that will include lesson plans, speakers, and more. Teens must attend 10 out of the 17 weeks in order to take home food.

Teens in Motion: Capture the Flag
Saturday, June 12th 11am-12pm
Wedgewood Park
$5/resident team; $7/non-resident team
Form your team and get ready to compete against others to see who can CAPTURE the Flag. Dress for a mess as this game will include paintballs to throw at the opposing team. Safety goggles will be provided. Winning team will receive a prize.

Teens in Motion: Wacky Water Wednesday
Wednesday, July 28th 2-3pm
Community Park, the field between shelter 1 & 2
$1/resident; $3/non-resident
Come dressed in your water-friendly attire and be ready to get wet! Shaving cream slip and slides, wacky water balloon relays, and more! Don’t forget your towel and a change of clothes.

Teens in Motion: Scary Stories, S’mores, and Night Hike
Friday, August 13th 8-9:30pm
Community Park, Atherton Amphitheater
$1/resident; $3/non-resident
Bring your flashlight for this Friday the 13th night hike. Teens will begin a night hike through Community Park as our guide tells you some haunted tales. Then share your own scary story while making s’mores.

Mobile Rec Truck Registration
Fairborn Parks & Recreation's Mobile Rec Fun Truck will be out and about to provide the best ways to PLAY for our teens all summer long. Each week our truck and staff will be at various parks hosting organized games and challenges for kids ages 13-18. All equipment will be provided except where noted*. Waivers must be signed by a parent/guardian. 

Please bring a face mask with you. Mobile Recreation will provide: temperature checks, disposable face masks, and hand sanitizer. Teens must do a self-assessment before participating. If you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, you need to stay home.
Mobile Rec rules will be enforced. Please see the attached document to register, view rules, activity dates/location. You only need to register once to participate all summer long!
