School Resource Officer

The Fairborn Police Department has three School Resource Officers assigned full-time to Fairborn City Schools. The School Resource Officer is responsible for the safety and security of the students and staff at their assigned schools.  They plan, organize schedules, and present various education programs within the Fairborn school system.  They also act as a liaison between the police department and various social service agencies in the county.  The SRO council students and enforce the laws and code of conduct pertaining to the school district when necessary.

Officer Matheney is assigned to Fairborn Intermediate School and Fairborn Primary School. He teaches D.A.R.E., Seatbelt Safety, assists with Safety City (a traffic safety education program for Kindergarten students), and handles everyday incidents as they arise.

Officer Blocher is assigned to Baker Middle School full-time, teaching many crime prevention classes to middle school students (social media, dangers of drugs, damage of bullying).

Officer Salzer is assigned to Fairborn High School. In addition to the duties above, the high school SRO also teaches the Law Enforcement Class.

All the school resource officers instruct the students on drug use prevention and have an open door for students of the district.

Helpful tips from our SRO's. You won't want to miss watching these. They will keep you safe and smiling.
