About the Fairborn Police DepartmentTotal Calls - Copy

The Fairborn Police Department comprises the Chief of Police, 3 Captains, 7 Sergeants, 8 detectives, 1 K-9 Officer, 3 SRO Officers (one who teaches DARE), and 32 officers. In addition, the Police Department employs 12 dispatchers and 6 civilian support personnel.  The Police Department consists of 3 divisions:

Administrative Bureau
Oversees the Information and Technology Officer and physical plant maintenance. The Administrative Captain's duties include training, hiring personnel, grant administration, research and development of technology and equipment, and purchasing of equipment and assets.

Operations Bureau
Oversees the uniformed Patrol Bureau, the K-9 program, the School Resource Officers, the D.A.R.E. Officer, the Records Department, and the Operations Sergeant. The patrol officer are responsible for patrolling the city roadways and interstate highways, responding to citizen complaints, enforcing traffic violations, and investigating traffic crashes. Officers also interact with citizens and patrol neighborhoods utilizing a community policing effort.

Support Services Bureau
The Support Services Bureau comprises the Detective Section, Property Room, and Communications and is supervised by the Support Services Captain and Support Services Sergeant. Detectives investigate all Part I felonies and Part ll crimes that require further follow-up. The Detective Section consists of five general assignment Detectives, two Drug Task Force Detectives, and a Domestic Violence Detective. The detectives are also responsible for background investigations of new employees, polygraph operations to assist in criminal cases and new hire employees, Drug Task Force assignments for countywide enforcement, and investigations of child abuse cases.
